What is your area of specialty – how do you best help your clients?
I specialize in working with businesses of all sizes with a focus on non-profits, retail, and professional services to provide financial statement analysis and reporting, accounting and business systems implementation, and financial statement oversight. In addition, I am member of the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
What are your top 5 strengths? What is your favorite strength?
1. Relator
2. Belief
3. Individualization
4. Empathy
5. Maximizer
My favorite strength is Empathy. I love meeting my clients where they’re at. Empathizing with their challenges and finding opportunities to help them overcome obstacles to achieve business and financial success.
How do you like to give back to the community?
To be honest, it’s been a full time job being a professional cpa, wife and mom. And I love it! Even though I’m not currently involved in community engagements at this time, I love when opportunities arise to share my unique story and experiences as a deaf woman, mom and professional.
Accomplishment you’re proud of?
• Being a Mom is #1. It’s been one of the hardest endeavors and greatest joys of my life. I’m so proud to teach my son and be a role model for him as he navigates through life.
• Second, passing the CPA exam. This required so much diligence and perseverance. Even when I failed, I learned how to get back on my feet and try again. It was a humbling experience and a rewarding one.
Tell us about your life outside of work (family/pets/sports/activities/interests/hobbies)
I love spending quality time with my family including my husband and son, taking in local adventures, and making new memories. In my free time, I enjoy leisurely walks, cooking new recipes, watching sports, reading books, and having coffee with friends.
What is your favorite part of working at the firm?
I most enjoy helping clients navigate through messy books to provide clean statements that support them in achieving financial and business goals. In addition, it’s been a joy to support and train rising professionals as they seek to advance their careers. It’s been a blessed opportunity working at Hungerford!
