Peggy Murphy named Top 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan by Grand Rapids Business Journal

Hungerford Nichols CPAs + Advisors is pleased to congratulate Shareholder, Peggy Murphy, for being selected as one of The 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan by the Grand Rapids Business Journal. Peggy has been serving closely-held and family-owned businesses in West Michigan for over 30 years. She joined the firm in 1995 and has full responsibility for a variety of business and individual client accounts. She focuses in the areas of taxation and assisting business owners in achieving greater profitability and meeting their goals. Her services include audit, review and compilation of financial statements, tax return preparation, tax planning, representing clients before the IRS, litigation support assistance provided to attorneys, analyzing financial information, preparation of exhibits, and expert witness testimony. Additionally, her services include business planning, financing assistance and other management consulting.

She also recently received the “AWE Leader of the Year” award at the annual Seeds of GROWth Conference on October 17, 2013.  Peggy has been a member of the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) for 28 years, and has held a number of board positions. During her active years on the board, AWE created the EXCEL training program and hired Executive Director Carol Lopucki, who later propelled the program to become what is now the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center (MI-SBTDC). During Peggy’s time on the board, she was also actively involved in bringing the ATHENA award to Grand Rapids.

Involvement with AWE helped Peggy become a better CPA, business advisor, and mentor. She is heavily involved with the community and holds various volunteer positions at present. Peggy said, “I have a passion for helping these business owners meet their personal and business goals in the most tax-efficient manner possible.”
