Education/Certification

Originally from the UK where I earned my Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification. This achievement provided the platform for which to study the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), earning an Advanced Diploma in Accounting in Business.

What is your area of specialty – how do you best help your clients?

I have accounting experience at middle management level across several different industries and I’m driven by finding improvements to efficiency and accuracy to accounting processes. I enjoy taking the time to listen to clients, to understand exactly what areas they require help with, and then continuing that line of communication throughout the life of an engagement to ensure the work being performed remains relevant to the client’s needs.

What are your top 5 strengths? What is your favorite strength?

• Consistancy
• Context
• Relator
• Responsibility
• Connectedness

I relate closely to consistency. This is something that I try to achieve in all areas of my work and personal life.

How do you like to give back to the community?

During my time in the UK, I was an active volunteer for the Boy Scouts and also helped raise money for a local NICU by participating in a number of long distance running races. More recently, here in the US, I have participated in the United Way Day of Caring, a non-profit organization Hungerford Nichols is partnered with. Having recently migrated to the US from the UK, I also express support to others who have done the same and have therefore added my involvement to the Kent Country Welcome Plan, a program designed to help new Americans settle into a new life here in West Michigan.

What are your superpowers – something you’re good at that others should know about?

I possess a great technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel. I’m able to apply this skill in many areas of my work and it’s a great tool to use to help provide the client with reliable information efficiently.

Accomplishment you’re proud of?

Successfully emigrating from the UK and setting up a life here in the US with my family. It was a move filled with high risks but high rewards. I’m typically quite risk averse, so would have usually steered away from such a move, but the leap really paid off and very happy with the life my family and I have built ourselves here.
